The Funeral Service for Mr. Edward “Mott” Jackson of Montezuma, Georgia will be held Saturday, December 31, 2022, at 1:00 p.m. at Mt. Pleasant/Travelers Rest CME Church, Montezuma, Georgia with Reverend Desmond Rawls officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. Please MASK UP and continue to practice social distancing for your protection and for the protection of others.

Edward “Mott” Jackson, the oldest of nine children, was born June 26, 1940, in Macon County, Georgia to the parentage of Marie Jackson and the late Mott Plass Jackson. Edward received his education through the Macon County Public School System and graduated from D. F. Douglass High School in Montezuma, Georgia. After completing high school, he pursued his studies in a CDL Training Program. Edward believed in a strong work ethic. He became employed at Southern Frozen Foods where he worked for more than forty-five years.

At an early age, he gave his life to Christ and became a member of Mt. Pleasant CME Church (Mt. Pleasant/Travelers Rest CME Church) in Montezuma, where he served for years as a steward. There, he served faithfully until his health failed. Everyone who knew him, knew that he was faithful, loving, caring, and dedicated to making those around him feel loved.

His great work on earth and the love he gave will never be forgotten. He peacefully departed this life on Tuesday, December 27, 2022, in the comfort of his home. He was preceded in death by three brothers: Charlie, Nathaniel, and Cordel Jackson. He leaves to cherish his memory: a loving and devoted mother, Marie Jackson of Montezuma, Georgia; a step-daughter, Angela Shelley of Warner Robins, Georgia; three sisters: Helen Williams of Rochester, New York, Emma Jackson of Montezuma, Georgia, and Julia Tookes (Isaiah) of Oglethorpe, Georgia; two brothers: Willie Jackson of Americus, Georgia and Reginald Jackson of Montezuma, Georgia; an aunt, Mildred Frederick of Montezuma, Georgia; two sisters-in-law: Mary Helen Jackson and Brenda Jackson of Montezuma, Georgia; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

Mr. Joseph White Sr. was born in Americus, GA on September 25, 1952 to the late Mr. Calvin White Sr. and Mrs. Mary James White. He was employed at Scott Bedding Company and he later retired from Hickory Springs Company. Mr. White passed on Monday, December 26, 2022 in Atlanta, Ga.

Left to cherish his memories are his children: Brian & Rebecca Terry, LaShun White, Joseph White Jr., Anthony King, Minnie King and Cherronda Tookes; two loving sisters: Mrs. Charlene W. Anthony & Mrs. Shirlene White Monts; one brother, James D. White Sr. Several other relatives and friends also survive.

A Memorial Service for Mr. White will be held on Saturday, January 7, 2023 from 1:30 to 4:30 at 799 Hawkins St Raven Wood Apartment Americus, GA.

The Graveside Service for Ms. Tiffany Renee’ Patterson of Americus, GA will be held on Thursday, December 29, 2022 at 3:00 at Eastview Cemetery in Americus, Georgia. Tiffany transitioned on Friday, December 23, 2022 at Phoebe-Sumter Medical Center in Americus, GA.

Ms. Tiffany Renee’ Patterson was born on October 25, 1983 in Americus, GA to James and Gracie Patterson. She was a member of Old Shady Grove Baptist Church and was employed at Convoy Logistics.

Left to cherish her memories are her parents: Gracie Patterson and James Patterson; two siblings: Janetta Patterson and Brianna Patterson; one aunt, Rosalyn Alexander; one uncle, James Whitehead; her fiancé Jason Reese; three nieces: Alanna Edge, Ayvah Reddick, Alaiyah Reddick. Several other relatives and friends also survive.

Burial will follow at Eastview Cemetery in Americus, Georgia. Mrs. Johnson passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 21, 2022, at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta, GA.

Mrs. Bernice Ruth Johnson was born on July 6, 1960, in Sumter County, GA to Lucile Brown and the late Rev. Albert Mack, Sr.

Left to cherish her memories are her husband of forty-six years, Aaron Johnson, Leslie, GA; devoted children: David Johnson (Fanesia), Yolanda Robinson (Andre), of Americus, GA, Teresa Johnson, Atlanta, GA, Christina Johnson, Warner Robins, GA and Rodrick (Katisha) Johnson, Springfield, Massachusetts. Several other relatives and friends also survive.

The Funeral Service for Mrs. Annie Mae Stephens Witcher of Americus, Georgia will be held Thursday, December 22, 2022, at 10:00 A.M. at Allen Chapel AME Church in Americus, Georgia. Burial will follow at Andersonville National Cemetery.

Mrs. Annie Mae Stephens Witcher was born December 3, 1930, to B.G. and Noisy Board Stephens. She was a United States Air Force Veteran and an alumnus of Fort Valley State College and Georgia Southwestern College. Mrs. Witcher was an educator. She touched the hearts and minds of many at Staley High School, Ida S. Lowery High School, and Webster County Elementary School. She was also a piano and voice instructor of many in this area. She served as Minister of Music at Allen Chapel A.M.E. Church, Lebanon Baptist Church, Perry Grove Baptist Church, Union Tabernacle Baptist Church, Bethesda Baptist Church, Scotts Mater CME Church and Mount Olive Baptist Church.

Mrs. Witcher transitioned on December 15, 2022. She was preceded in death by her sisters: Edith and Odessa Stephens. Precious memories will forever be cherished by her one and only daughter, Queenester (Thomas) Covington, five grandchildren: Phillip Lamont Gandy II, Elijah Stephen Gandy, Kendall Isaiah Gandy, Princess Amadi-Janelle Covington, and Tommye Parissa Covington; A host of cousins, close friends, former students, and church congregations also mourn her loss.

A Memorial Service for DyKameron Isaiah Lamons will be held on Wednesday, December 21, 2022 at 11:00 A.M. at Union Tabernacle Baptist Church in Americus, Georgia

DyKameron Isaiah Lamons was born in Thomasville, Georgia. He moved to Americus, Georgia in 2010 and graduated from Americus High School in 2020. DyKameron went to Southern Regional Technical College where he majored in welding. He was a member of Union Tabernacle Baptist Church where he served on the Youth Usher Board. DyKameron passed away on December 12, 2022.

He leaves behind his mother, Kimberly Hudson; father, Sedrick Lamons (Ivory); stepfather, Lloyd Hudson; daughter, Royale Lamons; brothers: ZyQuynnta Hudson (India) and Sedrick Lamons (Janieva); godbrothers: Tavires Williams and Ralph Wilson; sister: Sedrianna Jenkins (Devontae); great-aunt, Jerutha Scott; aunt, Terri Everette (Leroy); uncle, Calvin McKinney; grandfather, Isaiah Thomas; grandmother, Christine Lamons; aunts: Monica Lamons and Monqueze Lamons; godfather, Kevin Scott; aunt, Roxanne Clark; great-aunt, Odessa Williams; great- uncles: Stanley Clark and Roscoe Clark; godmother, Jennifer Angry; god sisters: Daja Tommie and Takesha Darity; bonus sisters: Deyza Scott, Raven Scott, Taylor Scott, Jordan Scott and Clara Wilson; special friend, Zamya Moore; a host of cousins, mentors, and friends.

Mamie Lou Harper Reynolds was born in Americus GA on April 17,1950 to the late Mrs. Ida Mae Harper and Mr. Loggie Harper Sr. She was employed at William’s Warehouse in Plains Ga in 1984. She was happily married to Mr. Phillip Reynolds.

Left to cherish her memories are her husband Phillip Reynolds, Sr; four children: Phillip Reynolds Jr, David Lee Reynolds, Ms. Teresa Reynolds and Marcus Antonio Reynolds; her brothers and sisters: Johnny L. Harper, Willie C. Harper, Willie Jesse Harper, Ezella Harper, Gloria Reynolds and Mae Vester Coleman. Several other relatives and friends also survive.

Mrs. Glendora Jones-Grant was born on November 06, 1956, to the late Mr. Robert Lee Jones and Mrs. Louise Thomas Jones in Leslie, Georgia.She was a graduate of Union High School of Leslie, Georgia and she also attended Kankakee Community College.

Glendora Jones-Grant departed this life peacefully on Wednesday, November 30, 2022 at the home of her daughter, Laskhia Patrice Jones.

Left to cherish her memories are her daughter, Laskhia Patrice Jones of Kankakee, Illinois; four sisters, Essie Mae Jones-Shields and Mary Louise Jones-Furlow, both of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Sandra LaSalle Jones-Perry (Rodney) and Harriet Rebecca Jones-Glover (George), both of Americus, Georgia. She is also survived by three brothers, Robert Jones (Alicia) of Shorewood, Illinois, James Edward Jones of Americus, Georgia,and Solomon “Sam” Jones (Ellamease) of Kankakee, Illinois.Several other relatives and friends also survive.

Funeral services were held Saturday December 10, 2022 in Kankakee, IL.

Samuel James Fobbs, Sr. was born in Montezuma, Georgia on April 18, 1944. He grew up in Montezuma an attended the historic Flint River Farm School. Later in life, he moved to Atlanta, Georgia and was employed as a maintenance worker. Sammie was joined in holy matrimony to Dorothy Williams Fobbs who preceded him in death.

In his spare time, Sammie had a passion for writing poems and spending time with family. Following a brief illness, Sammie peacefully transitioned from this earthly life on November 28, 2022. He was preceded in death by his brothers Marshall Fobbs and George W. Tooke, Jr., his mother Nannie Mae Tooke, and his stepfather George W. Tooke, Sr.

He is survived by his children: Patricia Davis (Ray Jones) of Perry, Georgia, Samuel James Fobbs, Jr. (Kimberly) of Macon, Georgia, and Sharonda Ladd of Warner Robins, Georgia; grandchildren: Victoria Brown (Michael) of Fort Valley, Georgia, Jessica Jones (Justin) of Perry, Georgia, Delmar D. Davis III of Fort Sam Houston, Texas, DeMarrion Fobbs of Fort Bragg, North Carolina, Devin Griffin and Lindsey Ladd both of Warner Robins, Georgia, and Ashanti Brown of Bonaire, Georgia; great-grandchildren: Justin and Jordyn Jones of Perry, Georgia and Nolan Brown of Fort Valley, Georgia; his siblings: Patsy Carter of Vienna, Georgia, Arthur Mae Paster (Willie James) of Montezuma, Georgia, Wyonnie Tooke of Perry, Georgia, Georgia Boyd of Columbus, Georgia, Thomas Fobbs of Atlanta, Georgia, Bertha Lee Tooke and Mary Alice McCleod both of Seattle, Washington; a special aunt, Mary Harrison of Montezuma, Georgia; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.

The Funeral Service for David Lee Monts, Sr., “Wig”, of Smithville, Georgia will be held on Saturday, December 3, 2022, at 12:00 Noon at Whole Truth International Ministries in Americus, Georgia with Pastor George F. Monts officiating. Burial will follow at Bethlehem Baptist Church Cemetery.

David Lee Monts, Sr., “Wig”, was born in Sumter County, Georgia on April 30, 1946, to the parentage of the late Mr. George CostellMontsand Mrs. Lucille Ross Monts. He attended the public schools of Sumter County. In 1967, he united with Sarah Monts. To their unionthree children were born: Jacqueline, David Lee Jr. and Carl. David's parents passed away while he was young, and he was reared by his elder brother George Frank Monts. David was a man of endurance and strength. Believe it or not, he could lift up the front end of a car.

At an early age, he joined Bethlehem Baptist Church. In his later years, he began attending Whole Truth International Ministries until his health failed. In 1960, he was employed at Marlett Construction Company. In2016, he retired from Sunshine Construction, where he was the co-founder, production manager and assistant to the president, his special friend/brother, Dean Bodine. He truly enjoyed construction work. There was hardly anything he could not build. In fact, he could nearly provide accurate measurements without a tape measure. He was also well versed in Math and History.

During his younger years, he played softball and managed a team. He enjoyed playing checkers and shooting pool. He loved spending time with his nephews at the place he called “The House.” To many he was known as “Unc or Pops”. David possessed a no-nonsense demeanor but would give you his last. His children, grandchildren and great grands were his world. They were his first choice for spending hislovingtime with. He instilled the importance of love and family bonding. No matter the circ*mstances, we were required to “STICK TOGETHER”.

On November 25, 2022, David departed his earthly home to his heavenly home for a spiritual welcome from his parents and siblings who preceded him in death: Elizabeth Terry, Anna Edwards, Margaret Prepall, George Frank Monts, McArthur Monts, Marvin Monts, Albert Monts, and close cousin, Eddie Rhea Walker.

David will be forever in the hearts of his devoted children: Jacqueline (Paul) Edwards, David Lee (Angel) Monts Jr. and Carl (Redesha) Monts; grandchildren: Keyetta (Starlin) Morgan, Lanoris (Sherika) Maddox, Kewantaline Edwards (Davelyon), Morquavious Edwards, Kelby Monts (Diamond), Davione Monts (Miya), Carl Monts Jr, Zayden Monts, and Casen Monts; step-grandchildren: Johnathan Wilson and Lanajah Stewart; great-grands; Javion, Jarnyria, Jairous, Jashawn and Janorious Maddox, Jaylen Brown, Landon Morgan, Aubri Edwards, Davelyon Patillo Jr, Paige and Isabella Monts; his siblings: Mary Jackson, Edna Jones, Ernestine Jackson, Billy (Ida) Monts, William Monts, and Ed (Juanita) Ross.
