Probably one of the best fried Chicken I've had in Sydney. I can see why it's so popular. I have always sort of been trying to find a Korean Fried Chicken place that I've actually liked as a lot of place feel like they have quite dry chicken. However at joy I feel like they hit the nail almost there, you can the chicken was sure to be fried between that fine line where it's extremely juicy and not under cooked as the cartilage did not fall off the bone as easily. Due to this the white cut meats were very juicy.I ordered 6 pieces which was quite a lot even for me. They're very big pieces. My favourite though was the original and lemon and parsley chicken as I'm not too much of a saucy guy.Good chicken would come again. Not too many tables inside for eating.

I cannot express enough how much we LOVE 🧡Joy. The chicken is juicy, crispy, and full of flavour. The sweet and spicy sauce is SO moreish. And the owner is just the loveliest guy in the world. It’s a win-win getting to eat the best chicken burger in Sydney and supporting an amazing, small business! 😍

We used to live in Chippendale and when we saw a new fried chicken shop was opening up, we were SO excited! Never have I had such amazing food and service at a place! Mr Joy ended up feeling like family and when we had to leave for Brisbane, we were very devastated he didn’t fit in our suitcase. Luckily for us we are going back to Sydney and you best know where our first stop will be! 10/10 can recommend his amazing food!!

We underestimated the popularity of this homely feeling Korean fried chicken shop and turned up at 5:30pm on a Saturday night naively thinking we'd beat the queue.Inside the crowded corner shop, locals are mixing quietly with first timers like Mrs Tofu and I as we all wait for our number to be called. I assume it was the owner who was manning the pass with cool efficiency and a ready smile whilst her team moved like clockwork around each other in the small kitchen. A joy to watch. No pun intended.Be warned; seating is limited but Central Park is not far away and the chicken will hold its crunch (wink).OK, onto the food. The KFC is amazing! Crunchy batter that holds its texture despite the chosen sauce (more on this later). It has to be at least fried 3 times to achieve this, I'm guessing. The chicken has been marinated and succulent with each bite.Sauces. We tried bulgogi, sweet & spicy, maple & chili and original flavours. Keeping in mind the chicken itself is excellent; I found the "plain" option a bit boring once the others had been tasted. Maple was the standout and we couldn't get enough; using our chips to dip and mopping it all up with our pieces of chicken. Sweet & Spicy was a nice take on what you'd expect at most Korean fried chicken places and a little sweet for my liking.Burger. Generous serve of chicken. Oozing with gochujang mayo and slaw. Soft brioche style milk bun and melted cheese. Perfect!Chips. Crisp and tossed in chicken salt. Totally unnecessary if you use them to mop us the sauces. More of them in the combo box would be nice.Coleslaw & Pickle. Fresh and refreshing but again light on serving size. Compare the menu picture of the Burger Box to our serving on the day. I didn't see if you could order more separately as they were great to cut through the fried food hit.Tteokbokki. Lightly fried and chewy as expected. The Sweet & spicy sauce we chose didn't really match the rice cakes well. We hoped for more spice kick and sesame sprinkle.Urk! Too long a review. We're happy to have found this gem and it rates high in our KFC rankings. Thank you Joy team!

Really good chicken burgers and chicken pieces. Burger (sweet and spicy) got a little messy for me to eat and I wish they had metal forks or knives, I don't trust the bamboo forks they supplied. Chips are good but missing some extra seasoning imo.

Wow wee!We ordered original fried chicken and sweet spicy, they were juicy and perfect. Chips were very good too. We were lucky to get a table but our backup was to get takeaway and eat at nearby park.We look forward to coming back and trying out the burger!

Definitely one of the best Korean fried chickens in Sydney. Chicken was juicy and crunchy, the burger was amazing too. Def deserve the 5/5I’ll probably recommend the Honey soy over the sweet and spicy, but can’t go wrong with either.

I'm sure it's been said many times before, but Joy Korean Fried Chicken really lives up to its name. From the moment we stepped into the diner, we were given a really warm and bright greeting from all staff members. We came not far off closing time, but there was no hint of tiredness shown. There were a steady stream of customers eating in and ordering takeaway, but staff stopped what they were doing and greeted people each time someone new came in. They also thanked everyone on their way out and took time to ask how their meal was. Service here is exceptional, and they made my friend and I feel happy and valued. Staff spark joy in what they do and take a lot of pride in doing it well.Food is also extremely good, too. I ordered 3 pieces of chicken. The size of each piece of chicken is very generous. Two pieces would have been satisfying in terms of size, but I really wanted to try more chicken. I ordered the honey soy, sweet and spicy, and maple chilli. All of them were really good but I liked the maple chilli most. Each piece of chicken was cooked really well. They were soft, succulent, and juicy. There was ample tender meat on each piece, and none of it was fatty. The coating was so crisp and crunchy. It was well drained and not oily at all. There wasn't just flavour on the outside of the chicken but all throughout it. There was ample sauce coating the chicken, and the inner meat could be used to mop up the excess. I really liked the pickles, too. Something seemingly simple ate well with the chicken.Joy's is a beacon in hospitality and food.

Joy Burger Box is recommended coz you get everything! Burger, Chicken, Chips, Coleslaw and Soda! The Korean fried chicken piece is big, crunchy outside and juicy inside. The sauce is so umami, tasty and one is never enough! It is Halal as it is mentioned

The juiciest. The crunchiest. The tastiest. The 🔥🔥🔥est.Chef Kay never misses. Ever. I've been coming here since not long after Joy opened its doors and have never been disappointed. If you have to wait for your order, it's worth it. If they've sold out of something, you know why.Always greeted with smiles and hands down the best fried chicken in Australia. Not just Korean fried chicken, all categories of fried chicken. Joy has it in the bag.

Health safety issue!! Chicken is uncooked, lots of raw parts and blood (see picture, sorry for the view and the mess on it), this is really dangerous!! How can a Fried Chicken place not know how to cook chicken? We’re not talking about beef! All the comments say it’s juicy, it’s either because it’s uncooked or unnaturally juicy. It was super cold inside.Staff is really lovely but safety comes first, do not eat there!!Edit following owner’s comment: we told you it was uncooked, you even switched one piece for us but we couldn’t ask you to change everything. We told you there AND adding a comment here, please don’t lie.

Came across this place while grabbing a coffee and went in from some chippies, decided to try the chicken, since it was halal and god am I happy I did! Loved the sweet and spicy chicken but the classic chicken was the best! And the chips with the chicken salt was just perfect - haven’t had such good hot chips in a while and I'm a chip enthusiast 😂! Also fire mayo - quite spicy but yummy - would order again. The staff were so friendly and inviting - just the cherry on top!The sink with soap to wash your hands was very much appreciated!

Their Insta looks super inviting, so had to try.We arrived early on a Friday but the place (small as it is) was packed. That was a good sign. The service was efficient and the chicken was really tender and juicy. I guess I just had higher expectations but it was nice

Absolutely best Korean fried chicken ever! The hype is real. Juicy and tender without any excess oil. Got the sweet and spicy burger box. Unbelievable. Add on the friendly staff and owner, cannot fault this place!

Adored the sweet and spicy chicken! The meat was super juicy and tender, the skin was thin yet crispy, and the sauce was incredible! I also love how you can wash your hands with soap inside the store. Would definitely recommend anyone who loves fried chicken to check this place out!

Best halal korean fried chicken in Sydney!! Always reliably fresh, juicy and crispy chicken with flavourful sauces and interesting specials. Customer service is great and you can tell the chef really cares about his craft! Very reasonable pricingAlso their chicken is halal, and he takes specific care to ensure no pork/bacon present on premises and that no alcohol is used in the sauces. If you can handle the spice, fire is for sure their best flavour, the place is a must try!

Came here with two friends due to seeing the great reviews. The food was terrific.Ordered the sweet chili burger box. The chicken on the burger was crisp yet juicy, and the sauce (chipotle mayo?) was out of this world. Also ordered the spicy dipping sauce to go with my chips, and it was so good that I ordered a second serving of chips so I could keep eating it!Joy and his staff were very inviting & friendly - just like other reviewers said - so much so that Joy gave us a free upsize for our second serving of chips :)Will be back.

Delicious food with very reasonable prices. No outdoor seating but plenty indoor seats. Despite being so well priced, there is a small discount if you DONT pay with card so make sure to bring the right type of money if possible. The team is super friendly and you can tell they really care. Tried the sweet and spicy chicken in the burger combo but next time will be trying the original chicken for that extra crunch!

Took an overseas guest since she loves Korean fried chicken & burgers. A great decision since we got the best of both worlds!Enjoyed the burger - it was a hefty thick chicken breast and we picked the maple chilli sauce coating. Every bite was crunchy and juicy and lightly sweet and mildly spicy!Fried chicken quality was soooo good. It’s fried on order and the meat is white and not ‘brown’. Brown meat usually means that the chicken is poorer quality or stored for a while (pre-fried & left to sit).Accompanying coleslaw and pickles were a great palate cleanser.Chips were average - perhaps this is sometime to work on guys? Will be back!

Can’t say enough good things about this diner. Quick highlights:a) fried chicken cooked by a former fine dining chefb) generous portions. $50 of food feeds 4c) No shortcuts. Everything from the fried chicken (butchered in-house), the fat chips to the complimentary salad are so dam good.I have no affiliation to Joy…I’ve just been eating here almost weekly for a year and really want them to stick around

I stumbled upon this place after having a sub standard set menu at Ester Restaurant which was just around the corner. Walked in just to see what the place had to offer, saw a few guys dining in eating chicken burgers which looked so good, made me hungry, ended up ordering and eating some chicken, even after having the 8 courses at Ester. There was a line when we entered that night but didn't take long to take my order. You can see the staff behind the counter cooking fresh pieces of chicken. The boneless chicken breasts are my favourite, they're super juicy, they all come with ample amounts of radish pickles and coleslaw.Have to agree with all the other reviews, probably the best fried chicken I've had! I'm about 30km out west, but worth the trip every time!

✨YOUR FRIENDLY LOCAL EATERY✨i'd like to start by giving 10 stars for the staffs. they really live up to their name, spreading joy through their attitude and amazing food. in a span of 20 mins i saw how they treat customer warmly & even give out free ice cream for a neighbourhood kidratingsweet&spicy tteok(rice cakes): 5/5bulgogi boneless: 3/5honey soy chicken: 4/5(+) ngl the sweet&spicy sauce is godsend!! i LOVE the texture of their tteokbokki. perfectly crisp outside and chewy inside. their boneless is also amazing, crispy and juicy. honey soy were good too but i think the best combo would be sweet spicy boneless+tteokbokki.(0) they all come with coleslaw. it taste coconutish to me. i like how unique it was but my partner prefer a regular coleslaw. french fries just okay.(-) fried chicken was a bit let down because the crisp flour coating does not stick to the chicken skin. bulgogi sauce also too salty for my tasteoverall really good, will come back for sure!!

I’ve tried Korean fried chicken at different places before, the poor experience has usually had me avoid this meal.Joys Fried Chicken has changed my view of Korean fried chicken forever!Their chicken is tender, the coating is crunchy and the taste is perfection! Well balanced chilli and sweet if you have the sweet & spicy, the pineapple one I’d confusing but sooooo good, and the fire mayo made one of our dining companions want to sellHis first born for a take home serving of it.Also, really well priced for this economy!Low key casual done in options. Or you can grab take out so you’re closer to the couch when you need to recover from your food coma!FYI, not wheelchair friendly, and parking can be a challenge (but worth it)!

5/5 for everything.A must try. Not only was the chicken on point, but the service was even better. As you step into the simple and clean corner establishment you are greeted by the staff from behind the counter. You honestly can tell the owner and the staff really care for what they do. I rarely see this passion from front of house.Mine and my wifes eyes were bigger than our stomach. We ordered a burger to share and 6 pieces of chicken with chips and coleslaw. We couldn't finish it all so we got a take away box.We shared the Maple & chilli burger. We also shared sweet & spicy, originally and Bulgogi were the other flavours of chicken we shared. Tbh that Maple component was a tad too over whelming however it was cooked to perfection. The other 2 flavours were stellar and I can see how this place has gotten so many 5 star reviews. The Fire Mayo and the Gochujang Mayo dipping sauces seemed traditional however weren't flavours for my western tounge. When I come back the I will honestly just order the Joy box with either Sweet & Spicy or Bulgogi chicken or perhaps try the Honey Soy.

We visited Joy Chicken on the way to a concert and the worker jokingly spoke about how the last pregnant person who ate there became addicted and came each week until they gave birth. I laughed but didn't realise how serious this was.I have a problem, I live an hour and a half away and I am CRAVING their sweet and spicy chicken burger. I really should have taken their warning to heart cause now nothing is hitting that spot they have left. 😭The staff are all lovely, the chicken is to die for and my leftovers stayed crunchy and moist the next day! The pack is not only awesome value but it's extremely filling! Even the chips were delicious for the 5 I actually managed to fit in to my overstuffed tummy.Get in early to make sure you get a table!
