Our beloved mother Dora A. Mancini became one of God’s angels on June 13, 2024, at the age of 98. She was predeceased by her husband Tony Mancini; her parents Antonio and Antoinetta Donatelli; her son Tolio Mancini; her granddaughter Maria Mancini; her sisters Ann Alecia, and Mary Putrino; her brother Nick Donatelli. She is survived by her daughters Palmette Maney and Antoinette (Kevin) Kroft; her daughter-in-law Debbie Mancini; her grandchildren Christine (Jim) Macarelli, Mike (Gina) Mancini, Sara Sebastianelli (Jeff), Todd (Cristin) Plourde, Aaron (Mila) Kroft; her great-grandchildren Anthony, Marlee, Rocco, Anthony, Andre, Nathan, Noah, Eli, Celina and Julian. Mom was the matriarch and heart of our family. Her door was always open and everyone who entered was treated with unconditional love. The family would like to express their sincere thanks to two special people Leah and Doreen as well as the Hospice Nurses, especially Chris and Hannah.

Neil (Nib) Paul Farrant 61 of Endicott passed away Tuesday June 11, 2024. He was predeceased by his father Bernard. He is survived by his wife Kristin, his son Christopher and daughter Brittany, his mother Marcia and brothers Andrew and Anthony, his lifelong friend Jeff and his beloved dogs “Rocky and Ripley”. He was a veteran of the US Army serving as a Paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne. He was a lifelong painter and drywall finisher and an employee of Broome Developmental for the last 16 years. Neil was born in Exeter Devon, England and lived most of his life on the southside of Binghamton. Neil was a friend to many, he enjoyed his Jeep, loved his dogs and cherished his children.
There will be no formal funeral services or calling hours.

Francis J. Olshefski 77 of Endicott, NY passed away Sunday June 9, 2024. He was predeceased by his parents Frank and Mary Olshefski; his brothers Cy (Marty) Olshefski, Matt (Theresa) Olshefski, Tony Olshefski; his sisters Jean (John) Yurko, Henrietta (Roy) Saxer; his sister-in-law Mariana Olshefski. He is survived by his brothers Marion (Sandy) Olshefski, Paul Olshefski; his sister-in-law Cheryl Olshefski; also, several nieces, nephews and cousins. He attended St. Cyril’s and St. Joseph’s Catholic Schools and graduated from Union-Endicott High School in 1965. He was a veteran of the US Army serving as a Medic in Germany during the Vietnam Era. He was a retired employee of IBM Endicott and a member of St. Joseph’s Church. He was an avid fan of the NY Yankees and the NY Giants. Fran was an animal lover, a good cook and a history buff. He enjoyed a good western and painting pictures inspired by Bob Ross.

A Funeral Mass will be held Monday June 17th at 11:00 AM at St. Joseph’s Church 207 Hayes Ave. Endicott, NY. Burial will follow in St. Stanislaus Kostka Cemetery, Binghamton, NY. The family will receive friends at the church on Monday from 10:00 AM until the time of Mass at 11:00 AM. Kay (English) Menichetti 87 of Endicott passed away Saturday June 8, 2024. She was predeceased by her husband Myron; her son Myron, Jr.; her brothers Jon and Kurt English. She is survived by two daughters Cathy Johnson (John), Rebecca Menichetti (Kevin Hughes); four grandchildren John Johnson, Nicole Johnson, Colin Hughes, Kelly Hughes; her sister Judy Mulligan; her brother Jeff English; her brother-in-law and sister-in-law Ron and Carol Menichetti; devoted nieces Maureen Ciotoli (Ed), Megan Ciotoli, Blaire Fritz; also several other nieces, nephews and cousins.

A Funeral Mass will be held Friday June 14th at 10:00 AM at St. Anthony of Padua Church 300 Odell Ave. Endicott, NY. Burial will follow in Riverhurst Cemetery, Endwell. At age 73, Donna Melville slipped on her kitchen floor and broke her hip. Four days later, her neighbor, whom she had known for nearly 50 years, discovered her barely conscious, but alive. Her house in Park Manor, her pride and joy for more than half her life, almost became her tomb. But there was no way this tough Irish lass from Johnson City would let that happen.

During those 96 hours in agony, Donna, who could not reach the phone above her on the wall, survived on grit and determination.

When doctors stabilized her in the ER, she didn’t ask them about her health, she wanted to know if the Giants beat the Cowboys. When told that it was only Saturday and that the game had not been played yet, she smiled.

Her doctor wrote only four words on her chart that day: “Too stubborn to die.”

Donna grew up in a blue-collar neighborhood with an older brother Gary and a younger brother David. Her father, Gilbert Hillis, was a firefighter. Her mother Louise Krewson divorced “Gilly” after a time, and Alice Hillis became Donna’s stepmother.

After graduating from Johnson City High School and while working at Bell Telephone, Donna met and married the love of her life, Craig Melville in 1962. Three children and 16 years later, Donna tragically lost Craig to cancer. At age 35, Donna faced an uncertain life as a single mother.

Her Catholic faith and friends from St. Joseph’s Church and the community guided her through difficult times. Life moved on. Family vacations to Wildwood, N.J. Planting flowers in the spring. Watching her kids’ sporting events. She even learned to keep the scorebook at Little League baseball games.

She landed a job at IBM in the paper procurement department, which she kept for nearly 25 years. Her kids graduated from Union-Endicott High School and all earned college degrees. Her children’s successes made her proud and she was not shy about it.

Donna loved to dance (Neil Diamond was a go-to), have a few glasses of wine, laugh like a loon (her words) with friends, and watch (and complain about) the New York Giants. She inherited that curse from Louise.

A social and outgoing personality, Donna participated in various leagues and clubs over the years with activities involving sewing, crafting, quilting, and loved a good beach read. She volunteered for St. Joseph’s Church, the Catholic Youth Organization, and had fun working the pizza fritte concession stand at the church’s annual bazaar. She helped give back to the community through her church by collecting and distributing items for those in need. She also made the “world’s greatest” kolachki.

The best times for her were in her golden years as grandma to her four grandchildren. She loved babysitting when they were young and hearing about all of their adventures as adults. She was proud to wear their respective college sweatshirts and follow them on social media.

But eventually, time catches up with you, and no matter how tough and stubborn you are in life, in the end, peace rests your soul.

Donna Louise (Hillis) Melville, age 81, formerly of Endwell, N.Y., passed away on May 30, 2024, in Plymouth Meeting, Pa., after a short hospitalization. She was predeceased by her husband, Craig Melville, her mother, Louise Krewson, her father, Gilbert Hillis, and her stepmother, Alice Hillis.

She will be greatly missed by her children, Rick (Michele), Teresa (Carl) Regillo, and Thomas (Rosa Maria) as well as her grandchildren, Jake (Julia) and Max Melville, and Audrey and Grant (Rachel) Regillo. She is survived by her two brothers, Gary in St. Louis, and David in Vestal, N.Y.

A funeral mass will take place at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, June 19, at St. Joseph’s Church, 207 Hayes Ave., Endicott, N.Y. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Johnson City, N.Y. A luncheon to follow at Atrio, 411 Hooper Rd., Endwell. Leonard A. Dudinyak 85 of Endwell, NY, passed into eternal memory on June 5, 2024. Born in Hazelton, PA, to the late Andrew and Helen (Sotack) Dudinyak. He was predeceased by his sister Jeanette Ann Young. He is survived by his wife Joanne; sons Scott, Michael (Dina), David (Lisa), Mark (Pamela), Christopher (Krista); fifteen grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; his sister Dolores Dudek of Gainsville, Florida. Leonard was educated in the Hazelton City School District (56’), Pennsylvania State University, The Federal Aviation Administration Academy at the Aeronautical Center, OKC, OK., and the National Weather Service Training Center, KC, MO. He was a Naval Veteran and employed with the Departments of Defense, Commerce and Transportation in civilian life. He made his profession as Brother Nathan in the THIRD Order Religious under the OFM, Conv. Obedience in June 1986, elected Formation Director in 1988 and Minister/President in 1992 of the St. Francis Fraternity, Endicott, NY. He was the representative for the Eastern Region to the Immaculate Conception Province (15), Rensselaer, NY for many years. Chosen by the Provincial Minister of the Immaculate Conception Province, he was assigned to the Steering Committee for Regionalization in 1993. As a result, the Blessed (Saint) Kateri Tekakwitha Region was approved by Rome and Canonically established in 1994. He was elected to the 1st Council of the new region. He was a member of Ss. Peter and Paul Byzantine Catholic Church, Endicott, NY.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday June 11th at 10:00 AM at Ss. Peter and Paul Byzantine Catholic Church, Endicott. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery. Rinaldo “Ron” Roma 86 of Endicott, NY, passed away peacefully after an extended illness on Sunday, May 26th. He was predeceased by his parents Mario and Madeline Roma; his in-laws Arthur and Grace sem*ntelli; his loving wife of 61 years Rosalyn Roma and his brother John Roma. He is survived by his greatest treasures, his two daughters Debra Roma (Beth Herrick) and Lisa Koban (Bob); his sister-in-law Diane Roma; nieces Michelle (Fred), Denise (Howie); nephew Mark (Stephanie); a special great-nephew Michael Barton (Kelly); great-great niece Briella; great-great nephew Micah; his devoted partner Donna Krzyzewski and her daughters Kim (Francis) and Kris (David); his furry companion “Reilly”; his extended loving family Mary Lou Paoletti, Rich and Paulette Donkersloot, Jim and Patti Koval; also many cousins and dear friends. He was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Church where he was a past Eucharistic Minister and formerly played an active role in the Hope Appeal. He was a former employee of Endicott Johnson and IBM where he was a purchasing manager and ended his career at PB Industries. Ron was a volunteer at the Front Street Animal Shelter, and an avid outdoorsman and animal lover.He was known for his kind loving personality and generous spirit, but he will be best remembered as a devoted father, family man, and friend.

Colin Penny, 79, of Endicott NY passed away peacefully at home on May 18, 2024. He was born in Abingdon, UK on June 9th, 1944 and lived a full and impactful life. Colin grew up in Southampton and joined the Air Training Corp at age 14, where he learned to fly. He left home at 16 to join the Royal Air Force and pursue his lifelong dream of working on airplanes. There, he continued to fly and excelled in classes. He also made his mark on the squash courts, on the football pitch, and (rumor has it) on Queen Elizabeth's personal stock of gin. After leaving the RAF, Colin earned an advanced degree in control theory and spent several years working as an engineer at British Aerospace (BAe). He emigrated to the US in 1980 after accepting an offer at GE (now BAE Systems) in Johnson City, NY. It was there he met Sue Dimock, whom he quickly knew would be his life partner. He retired in 2008, taking with him many lasting friendships. Colin was a lifelong learner who enjoyed many hobbies including sailing, woodworking, hiking, Premier League and Formula 1, and completing the daily NYTimes crossword puzzles. He also enjoyed vacationing with family and taking scenic day trips in the hobby cars he collected and maintained. Colin’s greatest joy was his family. He and Sue built a rewarding life together; he was immensely proud of his three children and loved spending time with his grandchildren. Colin is predeceased by his parents, Frederick Penny and Dorothy Ward, his brothers Fred and Ron, and his father-in-law Art. He is survived by his beloved wife of 40 years Susanna (Dimock) Penny, his brother Tony and sister-in-law Audrey, his sister-in-law Irene, and his mother-in-law Mary. Colin’s legacy will live on through his three children David Penny (Joanna), Sarah Musuta (Eric), and Helen Fiedler (Brett), as well as his four grandchildren Gavin, Ethan, Henry, and Margot. His many in-laws, friends, cousins, nephews, and nieces will also remember him fondly. Diedre (Kennicutt) Stanko 75 of Endicott, NY, passed away peacefully on Sunday May 12, 2024. She was predeceased by her husband Chuck Stanko; her parents Donald and Betty Kennicutt; her siblings Gary Kennicutt and Karen Berlant; her beloved dog, "Yahtzee".

She is survived by her daughter Dennell Jurgensen (Eric); two grandchildren Connor and Lindsey Jurgensen; three sisters Raylene Lewis, Kristi Carulli (Florindo), Dana Sibley (Don); her sister-in-law Jeanne Kennicutt; her precious cat, “Munchkin” who was her faithful companion after Chuck’s death; also several nieces, nephews and cousins. Special thanks to her neighbors whose help made it possible for her to remain in her home and to the staff of Willow Point Nursing Home Rehab for the weeks of extraordinary care that she received. Diedre loved retirement! She enjoyed fishing, musicals, watching television, panda bears, diamond art, slot machines, baking her famous chocolate cake, making spiced walnuts for the holidays, her nightly glass of Red Cat wine, and especially spending time with her family. She was a retired employee of BAE Systems, Johnson City, NY.

Herbert Schleining, 95, formerly of Endwell, passed away on Thursday May 2 nd , 2024 at Elizabeth Church Manor. He is predeceased by his loving wife of 72 years, Mary, his daughter, Patricia, his parents, Harry and Carlene Schleining, and his brother, Fred Snover. He is survived by his daughters, Marjorie Schleining of Cooperstown, Karen (Randy) Weeks of Endwell, and Melissa (Ben) Mannino of Cumming, Georgia. He is also survived by his brother-in-law George (Marilyn) Magur Jr. of Endwell, his grandchildren, Kyle and Ashley Weeks, Justin (Jessica) Smith, Anthony (Ally) and Christine Mannino, and Rachel (Bryce) Castille, nieces and nephews Ed (Kristin), Nicolette, and Ann Magur.

He was born in Scranton, PA on October 31 st , 1928 and relocated to Binghamton with his family as a teenager. He briefly served in the army before attending the Lowell School of Business where he met his wife, Mary. He was employed by IBM in Endicott for 39 years. Herbert was a lifelong member of St. Mary’s Orthodox Church in Endicott where he enjoyed supporting the annual bake sale sessions. He was an avid reader and enjoyed watching sports on TV, especially the Yankees. He was a wonderful and supportive father, and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren of whom he was very proud.

A viewing will be held at the Leon Pucedo Funeral Home, 1905 Watson Blvd. Endicott, on Tuesday, May 7 th from 5-7pm. Father Nathanial Choma will hold a Panachida service Tuesday at 6:30pm. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, May 8 th at 11:00am at St. Mary’s Orthodox Church, 1907 Jenkins St. Endicott, NY 13760. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Mary’s Orthodox Church. The family would like to thank Hilltop, St. Louise Manor and Elizabeth Church Manor for their loving care over the past several years.

Louise Eleanor Haas (Owen) passed away on April 23, 2024, at the age of 93 in Oxford, NY. She was born on April 10, 1931, in Carbondale, PA to Evelyn B. and George L. Owen.
Louise is survived by her son George Owen and wife Maryellen. She was a beloved grandmother to Steve Owen and wife Debbie, Keith Owen and wife Sandra, Tracy Grippe and husband Josh. Louise was also a cherished great-grandmother to Carly Reacher and her husband Bobby, Craig Owen, Christopher Owen, Aaron Owen, and Lindsey Evans, also niece, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her husband Raymond C. Haas and her parents Evelyn B. and George L. Owen.
Louise attended Lehman Township High School, graduating with the class of 1949. She was a faithful member of Finch Hill Baptist Church.
Services to honor and celebrate Louise’s life will be held at Finch Hill Baptist Church, 404 PA-106, Greenfield, PA 19807, on May 1, 2024, at 1PM.
Louise will be remembered for her loving nature, dedication to her family, and her unwavering faith. May she rest in peace.

Susan Becky del Cano, 72, of Endicott, NY, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, April 25, 2024.

Becky, as she was affectionately known, retired from Hadco/Sanmina after 28 years of service, where she formed lifelong friendships. She embodied the values instilled by her parents of hard work, a love for music, essential life skills, and respect for all. Becky had a deep love for all creatures, big and small, and enjoyed the simple pleasure of porch sitting. She shared many adventures with the love of her life, Don, and together they nurtured their shared passions for gardening and camping with their grandchildren in Old Forge. Becky also treasured the time spent on the beach in Wildwood, NJ, with her daughter, Ginger, and her grandchildren. She was grateful for the enduring friendships she cultivated over the years and found strength in her enduring faith in God.

Becky was preceded in death by her loving parents, Camilo and Virginia del Cano.

She is survived by her devoted partner, Don Morrow (Ann and Mikko); her son, Robert Westover (Calene); her daughter, Ginger; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; her brother, Thomas (Laffitte); her sister, Jennifer Spring (Guy); as well as her beloved pets, Rusty, Sis-A-Lou, and Penny, known affectionately as "The Boys."

Harlan “Harpo” Ayers 73 of Endicott, NY, passed away after a short illness on April 16, 2024, at Mercy House. He was predeceased by his wife Susan, son Matt and daughter Traci. He is survived by five sisters and one brother, Sharon Manarky, Dixie Knickerbocker, Penny Hirst, Pam Paton, Robin Ayers and Doug Ayers; also several nieces, nephews and cousins. Harpo was a veteran of the US Marine Corp, serving from 1969-1971. He joined the Endicott Police Department in 1972 and retired as a Detective Lieutenant in 2001. Harpo bids farewell to all his friends and relatives. “I love you all”. To all my Vietnam brothers, I forgot many names, but remember every face. We went through a bunch of crap and got a bunch of nothing in return. “SEMPER FI”. Matt – You were the son every father and mother wanted. Traci – You were the bravest and strongest person I knew. Such a loss that your body couldn’t keep up with your wonderful brain. Sue – Simply perfect. I hit a homerun when I got you. I’ve missed you guys so much but finally all together again and never to be separated. Peace to all!

Mary (Klima) Harasta, 93 of Endicott, passed away on Monday, April 15, 2024. She was predeceased by her loving husband of 68 years, Louis; her parents, Simon and Hilda Klima; her brothers (sisters-in-law) Albert (Mary), Tony (Helen) and Joseph Klima. Mary is survived by her sons, Joseph (Cathy), Mark (Robin), Louis (Julie), Steven (Andrea), Michael; her grandchildren, Lindsey, Valerie, Tyler, Evan, Logan, Stephanie, Kevan and Shannon; her great-children, Genevieve, Dominic, Amrie and Evangeline; her sister-in-law, Pat Klima.

Mary was devoted to her husband and family. She was a member of St. Joseph's Church, C.S.A.,Catholic Charitiesand the Moravian Club. She had a deep pride in her Czech heritage and thoroughly enjoyed her trips with her husband to Czechoslovakia to visit relatives. Mary was a deeply religious woman and spent her life caring for others.

WILLIAM FRANCIS CAWLEY passed away on Monday April 15, 2024. He was predeceased by his parents, James, and Alice Cawley. He is survived by his loving wife, Frances (Curatolo) Cawley; his brother, James Cawley (wife Barbara) and nephews James Cawley (wife Mindy), Sean Cawley (wife Carmen), nieces Michelene Cawley, and Erin (husband Steve) Chilcote, Celeste McCormick (husband Duncan), Johanna McCormick, Nardina Turner; nephews, Dennis Curatolo (wife Lisa), Peter Curatolo (wife Diana), Scott Griffith (wife Kimberly). Bill graduated from Forest City, Pa. High School in June 1952 and received a BS degree in Electronics from the University of Scranton in June 1956. He then received an MS degree in Electrical Engineering from Syracuse University later in 1956. Bill started working for IBM in 1956 and retired in July 1987. He met his wife Fran while working at IBM and they married in 1977. He was an avid skier and golfer. He also enjoyed country music dancing with his wife Fran. He and his father built a cottage on the St. Lawrence River at the Thousand Islands where he enjoyed fishing, boating and just relaxing on the porch watching the big ships go by. Bill was a veteran of the US Marine Corps. Funeral services will be held Saturday April 27that Northminster Presbyterian Church 711 Farm to Market Rd. Endwell, NY 13760 at 11:00 AM. It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Mildred "Millie" A Klarmann on Sunday, April 14, 2024 just 3 months shy of her 100th birthday. She was a loving great grandmother, grandmother, mother and terrific friend. She was preceded by her parents Marion and Salvatore DeVarso, her husband Gerald, her sister Helen and her oldest daughter Carol. She is survived by her daughters Barbara, Patricia and Ann, Her grandchildren and their families, Susan and Colin Langley, Chris and Irine Robles and daughters Felicity and Cassidy, Kevin and Raven Robles and daughter Lilly, Debra Klarmann and daughter Selena and Melissa Klarmann and fiancee Justin Swan and Jennifer Citino.She is also survived by many nieces and nephews, church parish friends and her many penpals that she corresponded with. Millie went to work late in life and worked at The Endicott Nursing Home (Sullivan Park) in Endicott and loved her job and helping people even though she herself was over the age of 60. She was a very active member of Church of the Holy Family enjoying Fun & Games, Human Development, the Perpetual Chapel, The Ladies Guild and The White Elephant. You could always see her riding her bike in the church parking lot until she turned 95. She also enjoyed her many friends and activities at the Western Broome Senior Center. She looked forward to the times when she did her phone calls for the RSVP program through Catholic Charities. She led a rich and full life and at times it was very hard on her but she always turned to the Lord for guidance.

A Funeral Mass will be held Saturday April 20th at 11:00 AM at The Church of the Holy Family 3600 Phyllis St. Endwell, NY. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 10:00 AM until time of Mass at 11:00. Entombment will be in Riverhurst Cemetery Endwell, NY at the convenience of the family. Susan M. (Salamida) Henderson, 70, of Binghamton, NY, passed away peacefully after bravely battling breast cancer with unwavering strength and grace. She was predeceased by her parents Martin and Mary Salamida. Susan is survived by her loving husband of 40 years, Rick Henderson; her son Evan Henderson and his wife, Angela LaRosa; her grandchildren Luna and Elio Henderson; two brothers and one sister, John Salamida (Karen), Lori Salamida (Addison Geary), Chris Salamida (Kim); her nieces and nephews, Shaun, and Terra Salamida, Wynn Geary,Forrest, Sylvan and Sage Salamida. Susan was a uniquely strong and talented individual who touched many lives through her work as a Psychotherapist for over 40 years. Her energy and humor brought light to every room she entered. She was known for her unwavering beliefs, fierce determination and she was deeply loved by her family and friends. Susan's legacy of love, generosity and resilience will forever be cherished in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her warmth and kindness brought joy to everyone she met, leaving an indelible mark on the world around her.
