The United States Marine Corps is introducing a new warrant officer job, the Command and Control Interface Control Officer, focused on facilitating the exchange of information across networks. To fill this role, the Corps is seeking enlisted Marines with air-control expertise and proficiency in communication practices and technologies, including NATO's secure network, Link 16.This initiative is part of the Marine Corps' efforts to update command and control capabilities under the Force Design revamp. The goal is to adapt the aviation community's command-and-control approach and establish C2-specific formations.The new warrant officer position aligns with the United States Department of Defense's Combined Joint All-Domain Command and Control (CJADC2) concept, which aims to interlink land, air, sea, space, and cyber forces' networks for efficient operations. The proliferation of advanced communications equipment and digital threats necessitated the creation of this role.Selected Marines will undergo training, including the Warrant Officer Basic Course and Joint Interface Control Officer Course. Additional command-and-control and air-operations courses are recommended. Why is there such a wide gap difference between 1910 and 1926 respectively with regard to Powder Actuated Cartridges? Every time I go out to perform a partnership visit with the Home Builders Association of Central Arizona (HBACA), which represents the residential construction and development industry.I always seem to find a number of powder-actuated Cartridges (Belts of 10) with some cartridges either unexpended or missing. The issue I am having is several of the development sites do not have superior security and thus the neighborhood kids can gain access to these sites and retrieve these unexpended cartridges take them home and create a very dangerous situation that could result in the loss of an eye or fingers or worse. When I first tried to site the Construction company I was told I could not use the standard as it was from the 29CFR1910 which completely spells out from A-Z. whereas the 1926 does not. Having been a former Explosives Safety Officer (ESO) for both the US NAVY (Coronado CA) and Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego and (Weapons Field Training Battalion Camp Pendleton CA). As we all know those demonstrations of what Explosive damage from just a pennyweight of explosives can do continue to upset me with the blatant disregard in 1926 for the lack of seriousness of this topic is scarcely covered.

The USS Miami, a Los Angeles-class attack submarine, has a tragic story highlighting waste and security issues within the US Navy. Built in 1986, the Miami caught #fire in 2013 while docked for maintenance at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard in Kittery, Maine. The blaze, started by civilian contractor Casey James Fury who was struggling with mental health issues, caused over $400 million in damage. Despite the submarine's potential for refurbishment or sale, the Navy opted to scrap it.Investigations revealed that #shipyard firefighters and Navy crews were unprepared for such a large-scale fire, having focused on smaller incidents in their drills. Complacency and assumptions about the proximity of #firefighting assets led to organizational reluctance in preparing for worst-case scenarios. The incident raises concerns about base security and the vulnerability of critical assets, emphasizing the need for better mental health assessments, improved fire response preparedness, and strategic asset management within the U.S. Navy.A lesson not learned Apparently the Navy didn't learn its lesson, or this had all been forgotten by the Navy in #SanDiego only 7 years later. A Navy report concluded there were sweeping failures by commanders, crew members and others that fueled the July 2020 arson fire that destroyed the USS Bonhomme Richard, calling the massive five-day blaze in San Diego preventable and unacceptable.While one sailor has been charged with setting the fire [later found not guilty], the more than 400-page report, lists three dozen officers and sailors whose failings either directly led to the ship’s loss or contributed to it. The findings detailed widespread lapses in training, coordination, communication, fire preparedness, equipment maintenance and overall command and control.
